I had a dilemma lately, which "Course Overview" block should I use in a new Moodle system - the new core block that was introduced in Moodle 3.6, or the latest version of the "Course overview on campus" plugin?
Although the new core block is cool, we decided to go with the plugin block. The main reason is that the plugin block gives more filtering options and is more customizable.
I thought about opening an issue in Moodle Tracker, asking for adding some features to the core block, but before that I would like to "hear" about your opinion and experience with the same issue, if you have some.
BTW, regarding the past/in progress/future principle of the core block, I was also worried that it would take time for users to get used to this idea, instead of the "Semester" principle that are used to.
