Hi,

We have an issue with quizzes that we haven't seen before. 

A quiz is now set with completion criteria as follows, but is not marking completion for a user that fails after 3 attempts. Completion is marked for users that pass.

Completion tracking = Show activity as complete when conditions are met
Require view =   Student must view this activity to complete it
Require grade = Student must receive a grade to complete this activity
Require passing grade = ON Require passing grade  . OFF Or all available attempts completed

Passing grade = 8.0. The Quiz is out of 10.
Attempts allowed = 3.

Previously the grade was different, and Require passing grade was OFF. 

Since we made this change (unlocked completion options to do so) , a user who fails the test 3 times, does not see the quiz marked complete. The completion box remains empty. Is this the expected behavior?

From reading the docs, it looked like we would expect to see Completion marked (COMPLETE or FAIL), when all attempts are made, and even if require passing grade is on. 

"If a certain number of attempts are allowed, the quiz may be marked complete once the student has done them all (even if, for example, they did not achieve the passing grade.)"


Our developer thinks it works as follows:

  • When "Require passing grade" is set , there are two possible completion states =>  "Completed" and "Not Completed".
  • When "Require passing grade" is not set, there are three possible completion states => "Completed - Success", "Completed - Fail" and "Not completed".
