The options for awarding a competency
Do Nothing (the instructor will manually rate this and award the competency) this is needed is you have various skill levels. Such as Expert, Advanced, Skills, Basic Understand, Improvement is needed.

Attach Evidence, the instructor will manually rate this and award the competency after they review the attached evidence. If you are using the Assignment Course Activity this may be redundant......

Complete the Competency automatically awards the competency based on the related - course activity - completion rules.

Hi Shirley
Many thanks, I think my query was on the duplication, in the assignment edit settings, and then again on the competency page for the course and whether either has precedence; or whether it's just a case of making sure both are set to the same requirement.
