Show Certificates for Mentor role

Show Certificates for Mentor role

Hi, 

I have created a mentor or parent role (see https://docs.moodle.org/37/en/Parent_role). As a mentor I can now view the profile of my assigned students but when I try to access the certificates I get the followiing error messages:


Does anybody know why I can't see the certificates? Thanks!

That is because they are missing the capability 'mod/customcert:viewallcertificates'.

I have given the mentor role all permissions regarding the certificate:
mod/customcert:viewallcertificates
mod/customcert:view
mod/customcert:viewreport

So it must be something else...

You're going to have to give them the capability at the site level as that page is using the site context. However, this may cause issues and allow any mentor to view all the certificates for any user. You will have to verify this.

Hi Mark,
thank you for the quick reply. I does work when I define the mentor role at the site level but, as you said, any mentor can view the certificates for any user which was not our intention. We actually had the same issue with the learning plan plugin: https://moodle.org/plugins/block_learning_plan
Seems like we have to find an alternative to this plugin.
