A client has a on premise installation of Moodle (UK) but with global offices. Latency to Australia, as you can imagine, is the biggest issue and really knocks back load times.
Does anyone have any experience of globally distributed installations of Moodle, e.g. multi master DBs or replicas, and what you do about the file store, etc., etc.?
With the support of Microsoft, and one of their partners, Azure is being tested (in a single region) and it takes even more of a hit from Australia due to not being able to make use of internal routing the company has from offices out there back to on premise apps in the UK. They are now looking in to options to replicate the stack over in the Australia region to remove the latency issue and give them an experience akin to that from the UK. Hence, they are after some advice on if this is even considered possible with Moodle and looking for people to potentially help. It's pushing me out of my depth and I can see some theoretical solutions but also lots of pitfalls!
NB. The client has budget available for support from the right person/people/company.
