Calendar showing duplicate events for the same assignment

I'm working with the 3.5 version of Moodle. When I add assignments and include a due date and an "expected completed by" date, it adds two events in the calendar for that one assignment: one with a due date and one with a "Should be completed by" date. Is there a way I can remove the second event? It's confusing my students. Thanks!
