If you have activated the debugging option to show the origin of language strings; and there are no English language strings that can be translated {shown within curly brackets} (as {pluginname/block_calendar_month}), that means that the other language strings that you see are hardcoded. Some strings are indeed hardcoded in Moodle. See this forum post.
