Prevent Discussion (forum) Posts after course closing

Hi,

Our courses have a finite time frame.  We would like to give our students access to course content following the course closing date, but would like to prevent them from posting to any of the discussion (forums) after the closing date.  We would like them to be able to see discussion posts, but not be able to add any posts.  Can anyone tell me how to accomplish this?

It depends on your version of Moodle but you can for example remove their permission to post - see the docs Forum FAQ and the question How can I close/archive a forum?

In later versions you can also lock forum discussions and/or freeze content, but you didn't say which version of Moodle you have.

We have version 3.4 if that helps - thanks for the info so far.
