I use Schoology as an LMS. For homework for my students, I have a Moodle site running and I publish the Moodle quizzes as an LTI tool. Students access the Moodle quizzes through Schoology's External Tool function. The whole process seems to work well, including the correct grade passback from Moodle to Schoology. However, the students' exact user name is not getting passed correctly from Schoology to Moodle. If I want to login to Moodle to view the attempt, I see something like "42753849::9e8a7c781f5c80a02a0cded932865849" for a user name for the student. It would be helpful if I could see the actual user name that should be passed to Moodle from Schoology. Any idea what might be going on here so I can try to diagnose this problem?

I've just encountered this same issue when testing LTI with Schoology and the solution is to add Moodle as an LTI tool on the Course Level and not on the Material/Resource Level.

I noticed something similar with Canvas....when you add the LTI, there is a Privacy drop down box. If you pick "Anonymous", then you get the weird user names generated, but if you pick something else like "Public" or "Name Only", then the student names should show up properly.

Thanks for the help. This does work well. It appears that Schooogy is only prepared to send user info to Moodle if you have it configured at the course level in addition to at the activity level. If only you didn't have to add each activity twice....oh well, at least it works. Thanks again!
