Updating SCORM package changes activity completion settings

Updating SCORM package changes activity completion settings

We are using SCORM activities with SCORM 1.2 packages created in the Articulate Rise.

The Completion settings for the activities are set to:

Require view  Student must view this activity to complete it  (checked)

Require status:  Passed   Completed (unchecked)

I replace the SCORM package either by deleting and uploading a new package or by replacing the same package with the same name.

After saving the changes, the the "Require status" Completion settings are changed to:

Require status:  Passed   Completed  (checked)

See attached files for screenshots of the before/after settings.

I am unable to reset the settings without unlocking and deleting all the existing student completion data.

Running Moodle 3.5.5+ (Build: 20190315)

Also experiencing the issue in Moodle 3.2.2+ (Build: 20170331)

Picture of Particularly helpful Moodlers

For an active course with enrolled students, replacing the content should not delete the current course completions records.

Deleting the content files, "breaks" the student completion records.

However, if you revised (replaced) the content shouldn't all students have to "retake" the course?

Your current state, is that only the students would never attempted the course will see the new content.

Hi Shirley,

Thanks for the reply. I will post to the SCORM forum.

I've updated the SCORM content to improve readability, so I don't want previous students to retake the course.

I'm not interested in tracking any SCORM data. I only want the students to view the package and have Moodle track that  Activity Completion for each student.

Thanks, Rob

Hi Rob,

It seems to me that you are using Activity Completion to track student usage/completion of the scorm package.

That would imply that you want moodle to track if the scorm was "passed" or "completed".

I believe moodle is assuming this and keeps ticking those boxes.

Just a guess.

Cheers
