For fun, I just set an assignment to be due on:

Due date: Thursday, 16 January 2003, 11:59 PM (314 days 23 hours)

IMHO, the student should not be able to click on that assignement, "if" the due date time is up. Otherwise, what is the purpose?

IMHO, we need a timer on assignments etc. so they they time out after their due date, and are not available before a start date. I can wink assignments out, but this is extra work?

Or at least, displaying "314 days 23 hours" in red is not clear, if misleading. Should there not be a message at least to indicate the due date has expired?
