Hi Fellow Moodlers,
Recently I was tasked with setting up Moodle on our internal environment as a proof of concept, following the documentation I managed to install Moodle on our Windows IIS Web Server using a MSSQL Server back-end without too much hassle. Well, apart from using too new a version of PHP and having issues connecting to the DB, it was relatively painless...
Now that has been a success, I have now been tasked with moving the existing Moodle setup to our live servers. I have taken backups of the database, moodledata and the website itself.
The only difficulty I have at the moment is that the live environment consists of two load balanced web servers and a single database server!
Has anyone had any experience of setting up Moodle across two web servers with a single database server? I think the setup of the moodle site and database are pretty much as straight forward as it was on the single internal server (please enlighten me if I'm wrong)? My problem, or what I cant, get my head around at present is the moodledata folder? Is it as simple as copying the data folder to shared drive so both front ends can access/share the data?
Are there any special configuration settings that I must use i order to accommodate multiple front ends sharing the same database and data?
Any help or pointers to forum posts I may have missed (sorry) would be greatly appreciated. I am using Moodle v3.6.2!
