Hi,

I'm trying to work with the Solr plugin. I've successfully installed a Solr server (v6.6.5) and it is available on pont 8983. Moodle and Solr are installed on different servers. I've created a new collection (moodle) and I can check it on the Solr web admin interface. I also filled the Solr settings form in Moodle (v3.3): host name, index name, port settings are correct.

Unfortunately, I still get an error message on Manage global search page (screenshot attached): "Solr HTTP error 7: couldn't connect to server".

Any ideas?

Could SELinux be enforcing on your Moodle server preventing the web server (Apache?) making the outgoing connection to the Solr server?

It seems my hosting provider blocks connection to the Solr server. I've written some demo PHP scripts to test connection to the Solr server on my desktop (WAMP server) and also installed a Moodle on my WAMP. Everything worked fine so I have to contact to my hosting service provider.
