I recently noticed that several plugins in the Moodle plugins database do not show their 3.6 version in the plugin main page:

Flashcards set (https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_flashcard)

The new trema theme (https://moodle.org/plugins/theme_trema)

Google analytics (https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversions.php?plugin=local_ganalytics)

Restriction by cohort (https://moodle.org/plugins/availability_cohort)

Knowledge sharing (https://moodle.org/plugins/block_knowledge_sharing)

User bulk enrolment (https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversions.php?plugin=local_bulkenrol)

Course completed ewnrolment (https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversions.php?plugin=enrol_coursecompleted)

Microsoft onedrive document converter (https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversions.php?plugin=fileconverter_onedrive)

The foundation theme (https://moodle.org/plugins/theme_foundation)

The last two plugins do not show ANY Moodle branch supported, even though they do have a 3.6 compatible version.

With some of these plugins, when I try to install it from the Moodle plugins database in my 3.6.2 server, it downloads the 3.5 version instead.

This is a very serious issue, as the 'Install plugins from the Moodle Plugins directory' feature can actually install the plugin 3.5 version in a 3.6 server, and in the case of the flashcards plugin, it will freeze the server.

Silly old me!

I am answering myself:

This depends on Your Moodle version that you had previously selected at the Moodle plugins database page. It is a very user-friendly feature of the current Moodle plugins database. I had been working with a 3.5 local server and I foolishly forgot to switch back my Moodle version preference to 3.6 :(

It is very easy to forget to change your Moodle version when you have multiple local Moodle severs that you use, i.e. for checking your translations of  English language strings for AMOS.

Its worth posting about Germán, I have done the same myself and if experienced people like you and I have done this, plenty of other people will have.

Isaac Asimov once wrote "People often think I have the answers, when sometimes I don't even have the questions".

I actually froze my Moodle site the week before a major summative assessment for the human pathology graduate course. It caused major distress in most students, who could not use the many excellent learning resources available there.

You don't really know how useful your Moodle site actually is until someone (like me) freezes it smile

I have updated the Moodle Docs page for Installing plugins.

Please feel free to add/remove/change it as you think it should be.

Moodle 3.65, PHP 7.0, Linux, apache server

BTW - I really Like the flashcard plugin!!!

This issue has NOT been resolved since FEB 2019.

This Week I tried to install Mod_flashcard (version marked Release 3.6.0 (Build 2019011000)
Moodle 3.6). through Moodle.org's plugin website. When I install from the Moodle plugins database, choosing the version for Moodle 3.6, it causes a white screen freeze.

After reading about this issue on this forum, I was able to create a blank lib\eventslib.php and it fixed white screen issue.

Further reading indicates this is the moodle plugins website error, possibly affecting many 3.6 version plugins: it simply installs the wrong version and crashes the site.

This is a HUGE error, affecting all installations of Moodle 3.6.

What I don't understand is why, after revealing this error in Feb 2019, that now in Nov 2019 it has still not been corrected on Moodle.org.

ALWAYS load a new plugin in your test site FIRST - I am sure glad I did.

Cheers,

Shemp

P.S. if I can assist in any way, please let me know...
