You might be stuck. If you didn't anticipate your groups when you created your discussion topic, I think you are left to adding them manually. Others here on Moodle.org might know if other ways.
It is best to figure out your groups first, and then create them before adding discussion topics. (So all that you missed was the group that you missed, now causing you a little more work.)
