That should not be a factor, changing the string text for "alternatename" since the database table has not changed.
I think this must be a code issue. It does not work for me either and it should. I find a lot of bugs with the use of filters in 3.6 (in 3.2 and up.).
Even using just two filters for username and firstname does not behave properly as it should for me. For instance, make two filters for username and firstname. On the report, set username to ALL and choose a valid First name from the list, and it returns no records found. Which is obviously not correct (and there is no debugging info.) See attachment.
