I am assessing the Badges tool in Moodle 3.5 for my organization. Everything worked as expected with configuring and issuing the badge. I set up an account in Mozilla Backpack and connected it to Moodle and uploaded the badge there.
Here is my situation:I would like for our students to be able to include their badges in their Outlook email signatures. I viewed a youtube video where someone demonstrated how to do this, but they never actually clicked on the badge after they added it to the email signature. When I added the Moodle badge (which I downoaded from my Moodle Dashboard) to the email signature, I sent it to myself. The badge graphic was in my signature line. However, when I clicked on it, only the image opened in a new window. None of the badge metadata/criteria/evidence etc...opened up or linked anywhere.
Regarding the Mozilla Backpack, I do not see a way from there to add the badge to email.
Does anyone know of a way to get the badge in the email signature so that when it is clicked, it opens up the badge information?
You could add a link this badge image pointing to the badge in the user profile page. To get the badge link for each badge, you can follow these steps:
- Access to your profile
- In the badges section, click over the badge you want to get the link
- Copy the URL (it should be something similar to https://moodle.org/badges/badge.php?hash=07ca5e18ac1f7c045e6355e0c52e7f8045b44767)
I hope it helps. Please, let us know if you need more detailed information.
This does help. Thank you.
I was hoping to include the badge image, though. Is that possible?
Sure!! You can use the following HTML text. You will need to adapt it to your badge image and badge link:
<a href="_metadata_badge_url" target="_blank"><img src="badge_image" alt="Badge"/></a>
This is an example of the HTML code and how it looks like:
<a href="https://moodle.org/badges/badge.php?hash=07ca5e18ac1f7c045e6355e0c52e7f8045b44767" target="_blank"><img src="https://moodle.org/pluginfile.php/50/badges/badgeimage/32/f1" alt="Badge"/></a>
