Scorm can be easily downloaded and shared on Android - How to restrict it?

Dear Moodlers,

we are using moodle mobile app latest version for our scorm based courses. We noticed that scorms are downloaded locally into device before it starts to play, and it can be easily accessed from phone memory and can be shared /tempered by users.  we don't want anyone to be able to share it with others or be able to access it outside app.

How we can restrict it?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PS: For IOS this doesn't seem to be an issue.

Is this with or without enabling the setting "Protect package downloads" in Site administration/Plugins/Activity modules/SCORM package?

Hi Mary,

Yes when we enable the option "Protect package downloads" then in our app it simply says "Open in browser" which is actually not good and it defeats the purpose of using app.

Ideally, either it shouldn't be downloaded and stream somehow from server OR if should download into internal app cache /storage which a normal mobile user can never access. What do you suggest?

Hi Nitin,

the app does not protect content that can be retrieved from the Moodle server, any "Webspider browser plugin" can download a full SCORM package from a Moodle web server.

The only way to disable content to be downloaded to the device is as Mary said, disable completely the activity or the download of contents.

Regards, Juan
