We are moving to Moodle 3.5.3 from moodle 2.6. I have a fresh install of moodle 3.5.3 up and running. The set up is Server 2012 R2, IIS 8, PHP 7.2, Mariadb 10.x. Moodle 3,5,3 is up and running. The old set up is server 2012 r2, php5.2, mysql 5.6, iis 8.
What is the best way to bring over the courses, users (users use LDAP - so should not be an issue getting them over), users materials as their courses will still be running at the time of the move. I have already added all the course catergories (not sure if this was needed or not).
If I follow the directions to move moodle to a new site: i.e. back database, copy moodledata folder, change url etc. My concern is right now I am running version 2.6 of moodle and I am told I would need to update to 2.9 followed 3.1 then 3.5.3. Is there a way I can do the upgrade to the new version of moodle with out all the extra steps of moving to each version?
Would it be possible to back up each course, with users/data and recover to new site?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
