Hi John, I think it is the plugin.
The cloud is used when the students want to submit their work, it has a little arrow inside.
In the teacher view you can see a cloud next to each student and in their view they can see a cloud next to their own name.
My only suggestion so far has to be to change the submission dates to be later but I am awaiting feedback on this.
