I've never worked with installing/managing Airnotifier, so unfortunately I can't help you with fixing that.
Regarding other notification systems besides Airnotifier, I've only used the default Google notification system (GCM, now deprecated) to send notifications. It was done from a PHP code I developed myself, so I've no experience with other notification systems either, I'm sorry.
