Multiple choice question as part of bigger exam

Hello!

We almost got our other issue sorted, the question is here.

Now customer wants to add this multiple choice question as a part of bigger exam, and we're not sure how to implement this. The quotations are directly from our customer.

This is what they need:

"1. Multiple choice ”game”

Sets of maybe 10-30 questions, which have 4 possible answers each. Only one is correct. There is also option “No answer”. if user chooses the right option, they get +1p. If they choose a wrong option, -1p. If they choose “No answer”, 0p. HOWEVER, and this is where the problem lies, the minimum amount of points for the whole quiz (questions 1-30 for example) should be 0! So even though it goes negative, they should always get at least 0 points."

We got this part figured out, apart from the negative scores thing, but I'm hopeful that we can hack some plugin if it goes to that.

"2. Quiz

Just as a background, we organize prep courses for an entrance exam. So the form of these quizzes comes directly from the exam, we have no control over it, and it has to be the same, of course.

The quiz (or the entrance exam itself) contains 8 assignments. Assignments 1-4 are multiple choice. Each of the assignments 1-4 actually contain 10 multiple choice questions (which then have 4 options, only one is right etc. the grading system is the same as with the multiple choice game). None of the assignments in the entrance exam can go negative. So even though the user would choose wrong answers for all the 10 multiple choice questions in assignment 1 for example, they would still have to get 0 points from assignment 1. Not -10 points. An assignment cannot influence the points of other assignments.

So the form is like this:

Assignment 1

contains 10 multiple choice questions

min. points 0, max. 10

Assignment 2

contains 10 multiple choice questions

min. points 0, max. 10

Assignment 3

contains 10 multiple choice questions

min. points 0, max. 10

Assignment 4

contains 10 multiple choice questions

min. points 0, max. 10

Assignments 5-8

Exam goes on, essays or other types of questions, graded manually

Now I know that in Moodle a multiple choice question is only one question, but for us, we’d need to have a way to deal a quiz in 8 parts, in which parts 1-4 contain 10 multiple choice questions each. And each of these “parts” would be graded 0 to 10 points, and together they would count to a common grade, from 0 to 80 points."

TBH we're pretty lost with Moodle, but this is part of a bigger project so we don't mind learning how to setup Moodle, but the climb feels a bit steep at the moment.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Janne
