Hi,
it is possible that all those requests come from the app, specially if there are several users using the app.
Can you see the parameters sent to the WebService in the log? If you can't, maybe you can check it in the Apache logs. The parameters could give you some clues on what is going on.
I don't know much about logs, so I can't tell you more than that
