Guest Access to Global Glossary

Guest Access to Global Glossary

Greetings,

We are running Moodle 3.1 (soon to be upgraded to 3.5).  We utilize a global glossary in all of our courses, but we would also like to allow guest access to this global glossary without requiring a course enrolment or having to login.  Our use-case is to provide a link to our glossary from our website to allow students to view the glossary without requiring an enrolment in a course.  We have been reviewing Guest Access in general and, so far, have not had any luck getting it to work when trying to open the specific URL for our global glossary.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim

This can definitely be done smile

Is the glossary at site level or course level? Either way, you need to have guest access enabled in site admin, and the guest login button visible in the login page. If it’s in a course, you also need to allow guest enrolment.

You can see one of mine at http://www.focusedonlearning.com/mod/glossary/view.php?id=98. I never give out the URL for the glossary because its only use is to serve the Random Glossary Entry block on the front page of that site - but as you can see, the URL works for guests.
