After a lot of research, I've come to ask the following:
In the Dutch educational system (secondary and beyond) grading to a curve is a highly accepted way of turning scored points on a test into a grade. The curving strategy, however, works as follows:
A quiz with 30 questions (1 point each) has a passing percentage of 75% which translates into a 5.5/10 grade. Lowest possible grade is a 1/10.
Between 10 and 5,5 0,6 points are deducted from the maximum grade for every incorrect answer, between 5,5 and 1 0,2 points are deducted for every incorrect answer.
These values will vary if the quiz has more questions, or the passing percentage is higher/lower than the example 75%.
My question: can it be done? And if so, how?
