Hi can anyone advise how I would change the logo to my own please ?

I presently have a black logo with the letter "m" ( moodle )  in white as the tab logo ?

Also how would i change the security on the web url link from being prefaced with not secure to secure in the search bar ?

Thanks

I am using v 3.1.6

Security is an issue taken seriously in Moodle and if you start reading the Security documents, that should point you in the right direction.

As for the logo, your version of Moodle is a little problematic, go to the Themes download page and look to see if there is any instruction on how to do that. As of v3.2 the logo has been separated from the theme, which allows a user to change themes without having to reapply the logos update every time. So, from memory, (please forgive me if I get it wrong)

Go to Site Admin > Appearance > Theme Manager and there should be something there for you to change the logo. There are some rules about the sizes of the logos you use, but that is about it I think.

Good luck.

Colin

Within  my version of moodle there is a security folder: Site administration > Security > HTTP security

There's a checkbox :

Use HTTPS for logins

I'm assuming I should tick this box, but there is a warning, about it MUST BE enabled on the web server, otherwise I'm locked out.

I have a dilemma, I could go back to the web server hosts, and ask , but are more than likely going to request a fee  for this info or they will request that I  sign up to their paid annual support service which I cant afford.

When I click on the hosts web site that comes up as secure, So I think on balance, HTTPS should be enabled also for my site ?

Hi Colin

I've tried to locate where I think I can change the logo and I've followed this file path :

Home > Site administration > Appearance > Themes > " My Site name " > General Settings

At the top of the page is this heading with a box next to it where you can drag a file, however underneath logo it has the words "theme-fsm logo ", fsm is my brand, so I assume there is a logo uploaded already ?:

Logotheme_fsm | logo

This text is on top of the drag & drop box:
Maximum size for new files: Unlimited, maximum attachments: 1

However underneath the box, is the following text :

Default: Empty

Please upload your custom logo here if you want to add it to the header.
If you upload a logo it will replace the standard icon and name that was displayed by default.

which makes me think a logo hasn't been uploaded ?

Any suggestions ?

A favicon.ico file goes in the pix folder of whichever theme you are using.

For instance on my Centos Linux server I have one site using the evolve-D theme and my favicon is located at:

/var/www/moodlexx/theme/evolved/pix/favicon.ico

This response in attempt to address your second question ... web site secure ... ie, https.

Please see:

https://docs.moodle.org/31/en/Transitioning_to_HTTPS (for your version of Moodle)

https://docs.moodle.org/35/en/Transitioning_to_HTTPS

Where you host, how you host, operating system, etc. are factors in getting setup with a valid Cert from a commercial CA.

For example - Digital Ocean's doc on https:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-an-ssl-certificate-from-a-commercial-certificate-authority
