Scorm Activity not completing in course

I have come across a problem I have been unable to solve.   I am running moodle 3.5

I created a course and have 6 activities with scorm packages for each one.   One of the scorm activities will not show completed status after the course completes.  All others do.  For that course ( as well as others ) I have set the activity completion as so:

show activity as complete when conditions are met

students must view activity to complete it

minimum score is disabled

completed is checked


cmi_completion_status shows incomplete

I have deleted the scorm package and then re-uploaded it.  That did not work.

I have looked at course settings as well.   Any help greatly appreciated

Matthew,

There are several settings to consider in the Moodle SCORM activity settings

  1. Is "Grade ... Grading method" set to 'Learning Objects'?
  2. It could be that the particular SCORM module is reporting 'passed' instead of 'completed'.  In "Activity completion ... Require status", check both 'passed' and 'completed'.  When both are selected an OR operation is used for completion - that is either 'passed' OR 'completed' with suffice.
  3. Does the particular SCORM module have a quiz that reports back a numeric score?  If so, try toggling the setting "Compatibility settings ... Mastery score overrides status".

Thanks for the suggestions.  Yes the activity does have a quiz that reports the score.  I will try your suggestions and respond.

Floyd,

I played with each of the settings you mentioned. 

I set passed first in activity completion.  That did not work

I then turned off passed and set Mastery Score to NO ( had been Yes ).  That did not work

Then turned set Mastery score back to yes and set Grade method to Learning objects.  That did not work

I then set all of them together, Passed, Mastery score = NO, grade method learning objects.   That did not work

I then set grade method back to Highest Grade, leaving the others alone.  That did not work.


Any other suggestions?

Did you try uploading the problematic SCORM content to scormcloud?

It may be how the SCORM package was published vs. a Moodle problem.

Ok,

After testing on scorm cloud the activity shows as incomplete.   Other activities imported show as complete.

So it looks like a problem with this scorm package.   Is there a way to force a scorm activity to complete?

I strongly recommend that the SCORM package be fixed, as it will be a thorn that will pop-up later. It just needs to be republished in the software that you use to create the SCORM package (Articulate, Camtasia, Lectora....etc.) with the same completion settings as the other 5 SCORM files.

Unless it is a really large course, this should be a simple fix.

Hi there,

I'll regonize the problems. I'll have the same problems.

But there is nothing wrong with the scorm package.

In Moodle 3.1 a scorm package grades can be a 0 (zero) or a 1. This depends of the user completed the scorm. View an x (number of dia's) = completed, means grade is 1. When the user looks at to less dia's the grade is a 0.

After upgrading Moodle from 3.1 tot 3.5 it does not work any longer.

I do'nt have a solutions..... I'll be looking for a solution to.

But i can say for sure there is no problem with the scorm package.

Maybe it gives you both some inspiration to look any further?

I will also look further for an solutions.
