Sorry for a number of threads trying to get font awesome working!. This thread is in relation to the essential theme @Gareth J Barnard. Please delete my other threads mods.


I'm trying to do this and get icons next to the menu




I got this working in 2015

Has anything changed?

I'm using the same code

ul.dropdown-menu a[title="test1"]:before{content:"\f1b3 "; font-family: FontAwesome;  margin-right: .5em;}

it's not working. Any ideas whats going on?

Ok....

Let me get this right before I delete the posts:

That this is:

  • All the same thing.
  • Not Boost related but Essential related.
  • Pertaining to the custom menu and not the course menu as shown in the screen shot.

?

The issue is some icons don't show in essential. 

It's ok to delete all 3 threads. Sorry for the cleanup job!

Well.... Some font awesome icons show and some don't. 

I'm using this to choose icons

The only reason I can think some icons work/don't is looking at the Essential changelog is putting this to a version compatibility issue? The reference I found was the 3.1.1.5 update.

NEW: Update to FontAwesome 4.7.0.


I think fontawesome is on 5. something?

Essential is on FontAwesome 4.7.0 just like the rest of Moodle core, i.e. Boost.  I've updated Shoelace to FA 5 free.

So you still want me to 'delete' '3' posts?  i.e. three would include this one as there are only two others, unless you've posted in another forum for the same question and not said so.
