Groups visible in Overview tab but not Groups tab

Hi there,

Using Moodle 3.1.1. We have groups created within course that used to appear fine before but when logged in today and tried accessing them from Course Administration > Users > Groups > Groups tab, they are not visible.

Nothing has changed configuration wise but now only one of them is showing under Groups tab and we have about 5 of them.

If we click on Course Administration > Users > Groups > Overview tab, then all 5 groups show up with users.

The settings under Course > Edit Settings > Groups is as follows:

Group mode: Separate Groups
Force group mode: No
Default grouping: None

Would anyone be able to help with this weird issue? Or if people have faced a similar problem before and the solution they used?

Hello,

We are currently experiencing this issue on a 3.5.2 Moodle course containing approx. 1000 students configured in to groups and groupings. It appears to be a caching issue. The issue is reported more often when using Chrome.

The current workaround we have is to tell users to clear their browser cache, ensuring all of the following is cleared:

  • Browsing and download history
  • Cookies and site data
  • Cached images and files
  • Passwords and sign-in data
  • Autofill form data
  • Content settings
The groups data then appears perfectly.

It's still a mystery to us though why it's caching this data.
