I'm trying to make some electron configuration questions for a chemistry quiz.


I want the question to be like this:

Predict the electron configuration.

N: __________________


So the stundents should answer: 1S2 2s2 2p3


Itried to do it with the short answer question type but it's not possible to write the superscripts without an editor, then I tried to find a plugin for a question type more suitable for what I want to do. Is there a way to include a text editor in the short answer QT or do something similar?

I think that the Open University Pattern matching question type https://moodle.org/plugins/qtype_pmatch with the Superscript/subscript editor https://moodle.org/plugins/editor_ousupsub is exactly what you want.

Thanks Jean, that's exactly what I want! I installed the Pattern matching question type and it works fine but the Superscript/subscript editor is not showing. I have installed and enabled it but I can't get it to work. Is there something I'm missing?

Sorry, I forgot that the new supsub editor needed a new version of qtype_pmatch. I have published that now.
