We have a problem in our moodle 3.5 installation. Before our upgrade to 3.5 we had messaging disabled. But teachers could still contact students in the course via course administration/users/enrolled users/ Participants and chose send a message. Although messaging was disabled, an email was sent to the specific student. After the upgrade to 3.5 this doesn´t work anymore. Is it possible to bring this email-solution back to work - without enabling messaging?
