Failed install 3.5 and slow page loads in 3.4.3

Hi All

I have a web hosting company who has installatron to install CMS services etc.

The latest moodle plugin there recommends 3.5 but it fails with the following error:

MySQL Barracuda format is not available. ASk you server administrator to upgrade MySQL and try again.

The problem is - they won't/can't change the MySQL. does this mean I am stuck on an earlier version of moodle?

The earlier versions install but the 3.4.3 is loading pages very slowly - 30 seconds per page. any suggestions there??

thanks in advance

Karen

Am gonna say, yes ... stuck with <-3.5 and future versions of Moodle.

Hosting using some sort of script to install?  If so, sounds like hosting not moodle 'friendly' ... at least with the hosting option you've chosen with them.

Mind sharing with whom you are hosted?   (for others who might also be in the same situation).

Slowness ... you could be on a shared host and are maxing out resources allocated to your site.

Do you have theme Designer mode turned on?

What theme are you using?   Some themes 'heavier' (takes more resources to render them) than others ... use stock theme.

Is your cron job running frequently enough?  (the recommendation today is once every minute)

Running autobackups?   Turn off.
