Installing Moodle 3.5

I am using a HP 32 bit laptop with Windows 7 and I am trying to install Moodle 3.5 for this stand alone laptop so that I can try Moodle out.  I can download the software, extract the zipped folders and files.  I then start Moodle,exe stop it (Stop.exe) and restart it.  I then open Firefox and enter http://127.0.0.1 in the address bar.  It then takes me some way through the installation on Firefox but then along the way I get a message on Firefox that it cannot access the relevant webpage.  Here is a screenshot:

When I install Moodle 1.9 on the same computer I can successfully install Moodle and begin to design courses, but I would like to be able to use the latter versions of Moodle. Please help.  Try and explain the solution to me in plain English! Thanks.

What happens if you type "localhost" into the URL address bar?  Which installer did you use?

I had the same problem in a Windows 7 HP workstation.

Looking in the error.log file of apache server, I found:

[Wed Jun 06 19:53:59.750972 2018] [mpm_winnt:notice] [pid 10108:tid 620] AH00428: Parent: child process 10824 exited with status 3221226356 -- Restarting.

I Googled for "exited with status 3221226356" and I went to the the page at:

http://www.codexpedia.com/apache-server/parent-child-process-exited-with-status-3221225725-restarting-on-xamp-apache/

Where I found:

"This problem often happens in Windows because of smaller Apache’s default stack size. And it usually happens when working with php code that allocates a lot of stacks.

To solve this issue, add the following at the end of apache config file, httpd.conf

1
2
3
<IfModule mpm_winnt_module>
   ThreadStackSize 8888888
</IfModule>

AND restart apache."

I did so, and my local Moodle 3.5 server under Windows 7 seems to be working again smile
