Confirmation BIAS is a pain. It turns out that while it was not working on the old server, the migration to the new server did indeed fix the problem. I still don't know why it happened, but once I made some adjustments to forum posts on my test accounts on the new server it started working.
Just as suddenly as this was working, the problem has now come back. I am back to where I started.
