How to add an image when using the markdown editor?

I'm creating some Page resources and I'm using the Markdown editor for a few reasons.  I want to embed an image into the page and I have no idea how to do this.  I don't know how I can generally upload an image to some place and then embed it with markdown code.  Can anyone help with this?
