I am using 3.2 version, i use word select Question type to create Question. The problem i face, is that when the student select 2 right answer and 2 wrong answer, they get 0 mark.Is there any way to control it . like, i want they should get the right answer mark and for the wrong selection their should be a mark control system. If we want there is negative marking, we could decide whether or not to deduct mark, and how much mark should be deducted
I am the creator of the Wordselect question type and the thinking behind the grading is in the documentation here
The idea is that if students know they will get a mark for any correctly selected word then after their first experience of the question type they would always click all words and so always get full marks even if they didn't read or understand the question.
Could you expand on how you would like it to work, do you want the ability to entirely turn off the deducations so clicking every word would always get full marks?
I really appreciate your response, i was looking forward of it. Right now i am making Quizzes and Assignment for an institute that is all around the world. We are working on Moodle on Canada and US location and are planning to expand it. Word Select is the most useful Question type and i love working with it. Right now, after each test, i have to manually fix the mark of each Student to get the most benefit out of it. That take lots of time .Let me explain you. i usually work with English Arabic and Urdu Language we are Using 3.2 version of Moodle . In Wordselect Question, If i specify 5 correct answer and each correct choice contain 1 mark, the Student select all 5 Answer he will get 5 mark but if he select 4 correct than he get 4/5. The problem arises if he select 4 correct answer and at the same time one wrong answer. Now he get 3/5 not 4/5. In this case i want to control myself whether for each wrong answer, do i want his number to be deducted or not. Even i want, when student select 3 right answer out of 5 and at the same time 4 wrong answer than he should get those 3 mark that he selected right and at the same time i am able to do some negative marking for those wrong selection. For example , decting 0.125 for each wrong aswer( designer choice) so According to me he should get 3-(4*0.125)=2.5 . According to the system he will get 0 .
I am delighted you are finding it useful, especially to hear of it being used with non ASCII style scripts.
Would a solution be to have a settable percentage deducted for each question instance. If the deduction was 25% your scenario would result in a final grade of 1.5. This would be based on originally getting two marks for the two out of three correct responses then deducting 25% for each correct response.
Would you be able to allocate a budget for such a modification. I work for Titus Learning who are a Moodle Partner so a percentage of anything you paid would go to Moodle HQ to fund the further general development of Moodle.
the concept of a student the student who's concept is clear will just
select the right answer and those student who select wrong answer will
get mark with deduction. for each wrong answer their will be 10% deduction.
This will allow us to differentiate between a good and week students.
The Organization i work for is a non profit organization . I work as a
volunteer. So i don't have any budget. Is there any way to get a free help.

Because 3rd party plugins have to be adapted to work with the mobile app. Very few have had that modification yet. My Gapfill question type worked with the old version of the Mobile App and Moodle 3.5 came made it easier to make those changes. Gapfill now works with the current Mobile App as well. If anyone wants Wordselect to work with Mobile you can contact my employers Moodle Partners Titus Learning for a quote.
It would require approximately 4 days of development time including testing and making available in the plugins database.
I have a good idea how to do it as there are strong similarities with what was necessary for Gapfill so it might come in at less time than that.
