For the upcomming Moodle site of my school, I would like to set up some kind of course material repository. Is something like this possible with meta courses?
We are a language institute for German, and we have different course levels mainly from A1 to B2 / C1 (as defined in the language framework by the council of europe). Students can enroll every four weeks for intensive courses or every 12 weeks for extensive courses.
As the content of these courses is the same, but the students in one course change very quickly, I would like to keep the materials in a reusable way.
I could do it with the backup feature.
But as I did not fully understand the concept of the meta courses (pretty few material to google for), I am wondering whether I could use meta courses instead do reduce the monthly work.
I think of doing it the following way:
- I set up a meta course which holds the training materials (e.g. forums etc.), for example Basic Level A1
- Then I set up a normal class where the students enroll, for example A1 - 1
- So the training materials are in Basic Level A1, and the students are as well in Basic Level A1 and in A1 - 1.
- Then I could use Basic Level A1 for general training materials, while I could use A1 - 1 for course specific discussions, etc.
Did I think the right way? Or will it not work this way? I would be very happy for any commentary!
Happy New Year to you all,
