I'm not sure whether this is what you were suggesting, but if it is then it didn't have any affect on the IPAD. I didn't include the IPHONE media query 'cus I don't immediately have access to test it.
BTW FYI, I found this link "http://stephen.io/mediaqueries/", a document titled "CSS Media Queries for iPads & iPhones", which is up-to-date.
