Courses enrolled in students?

Does anyone know if it is possible (or being thought of) to reverse the Moodle database relationships in the sense of enrolling courses in students?

At the moment the course is the centre of the universe and users are enrolled in these. If however you want to interrogate Moodle from the user's perspective, it would be very useful to have the databases linking in the opposite direction so that by viewing a user's profile you can have access to (i.e. view) all the course material that that person has been exposed to.

We have lots of courses attended by students who return the following year and to find out what they studied last time is a laborious process of listing their previous courses from their profile page (by hand, as the course links open in the same window!) and then trawling through the lesson content.

All thoughts and comments welcome. Thank you.

Hi Rick,

You may also be able to track that information using Learning plans. Students could have a report tracking their competencies over all courses when this is set up.
