Dear Moodlers,

I am not sure if I get the use of ratings correctly.

What I want to achieve: I want students to write some forum posts and they should get a maximum grade of 5 points, for each correct post one point. I thought that I could use a scale to rate posts  like the "helpful" in this forum at moodle.org. But in this case moodle sets the max grade for the forum at the number of values of the scale.

If I want to count the posts I have to create a scale with 5 values to make sure that students can get a max of 5 points. But in this case students can get confused if they get 3 ratings "5" but see a grade of 3 in the gradebook.

Is there a more elegant way to rate a forum?

Best regards

Sebastian
