Having Multiple Instances

Hi All,

I want to have moodle 3.3 and 3.4 to run at the same time in my machine.

But I do not know how to do this. If anyone know about this please help me.

Thanks !

Hi Peshali,

A Moodle instance is made of a moodle directory containing all Moodle code, a "moodledata" directory containing all the datas, and a database containing all information. A config.php configuration file is also needed to configure the Moodle instance.

So, to have 2 Moodle instances, you need to have all of this in double!

And don't mess information in config.php files, each one need to correctly define which directories and database to use!

HTH,
Séverin

PS : of course, these 2 Moodle instances are completly independant!

Hi Severin,

Thank you for the reply. But they didn't allow us to start 2 severs. Then what I have to do?

Is there any documentation or video? I couldn't find.

P.S. - I am new for the moodle and this industry. So please ignore my mistakes.

BR,

Peshali

You can run multiple moodles from the same server with different code, e.g.

yourdomain/mdl33

ands

yourdomain/mdl34

If you are limited to a single database you

They can point to the same database but with different prefixes, e.g.

mdl33_users,mdl_33_courses etc

and

mdl34_users,mdl_34_courses etc

Also, if you are using the two Moodles at the same time you will have to ensure that Site Admin > Server > Session Handling and the setting "Cookie prefix" is set to two different prefixes. Call one prefix m34_ and the other m33_ or similar to suit.
