Hi Nicole,
I am a Moodle user like you. I had this kind of problem until I understood the following: quizzes and questions are distinct entities. Quizzes are shells in which questions are placed.
Here is how a problem can occur: You make Quizz01 that includes question A. Then you make a copy, Quizz02, and edit it. Heck! Everything is mixed up!
Here is what happens:
- Quizz01 contains question A.
When you copy Quizz01, you get:
- Quizz02 which also contains question A.
When you edit Quizz02, you are actually editing question A and simultaneously Quizz01 because both Quizz01 and Quizz02 contain the same question A!
Remember that when copying a quiz, questions are not copied. Only the references to the 'same' questions are copied.
What you should do:
- Label your questions clearly, e.g. 'Question 1 of Mid-term', 'Question 1 of Final', etc.
- Check that your quizzes contain the right questions.
- Be careful when copying quizzes, because you also need to make new questions either from scratch or by copying existing questions.
