Hello, I'm contemplating implementing cohorts in our Moodle setup, using a plugin such as tool_cohortdatabase to create cohorts and keep them up to date. The thing is, there would be lots of cohorts to create in Moodle! Around 3,000 per year, with over 70,000 instances of student/course enrolments. So my question is, would it be an abuse of the system to use cohorts in this fashion? How about if we regularly remove old cohorts?
If not, then there would be the issue of enrolling multiple cohorts in one course. One at a time is fine for most teachers, but others might need to enrol a few dozen cohorts, selecting them in a way that doesn't make it easy to just create a custom cohort for the use-case. In short, how are others dealing with having to enrol 10+ cohorts in one course?
