I am not working on moodle, but i need to integrate the wiris filter into my project. I am workin on a quiz-like systen, but need something to render the MathML text generated.
I checked the wiris website, but it says it provides plugins for LMS and CMS. Does anybody know how to integrate into your regular php project?

Do I need to install/integrate any HTML editor before integrating wiris editor? The php demo provided is not working in html textarea.
If you are not going to use any HTML editor (such as CKeditor or TinyMCE) you should integrate WIRIS following the instructions provided for the generic plugin.
The generic plugin can be integrated in a div as you can see at http://www.wiris.com/plugins/demo/generic/php/.
