Messaging: How do you leave a live link?

I frequently message users through their user profile, but none of the links I copy and paste are live.

They look like this:

http://mysite.com/myawesome-page

Is there a setting somewhere I can change to make them live?

I just tested adding <a href="http://mysite.com/myawesome-page">test</a>

and that worked though slightly more labor intensive.

Normally, one doesn't have an editor in what is provided and auto linking only works for certain elements.

However, have you tried using bulk users?

Search for one user.   Select that one user and make that one user in the group of users.    Then from the pick list of actions, send message.

You will see the HTML editor then which has linking ability.

Cumbersome if one has different messages and links to send to individual users ... one at a time.

Looked for a plugin ... but didn't find any.

Hi Ian,

This might be worth a try: https://docs.moodle.org/34/en/Convert_URLs_into_links_filter

Hey thanks Catherine;)

That seems to have worked. I am in an old version of moodle 2.7. so the path was a little different. Site administration > Plugins > Filters > Manage filters and then find it on the page.

Now it shows convert urls into links and images. Not sure what the images does but the urls are live now.
