.. it's in German but still watchable, very funny. The move away from XAMPP is a good one. My previous answer provided links to the Authentication documentation and that should give you a better idea on how to get it to work.  

It is my understanding that an SSO depends on the OS, not the web server. If you are using Windows Server 2012 or later, then you should be able to install, Microsoft's Exchange Server.  There is also an issue of what apps you use, how do they use their logins? I am kind of thinking that perhaps you might want to go with LDAP initially, rather than a CAS server, that might be easier to set up, and most web apps have LDAP authentication modules written.. so I have been told.
