Quiz displays 'no attempts' when access restrictions applied

There is a issue we found with Quiz activity

The following is the sequence of events that leads to the issue:

  • a quiz is initially opened up for students to submit on
  • once students have completed the quiz it is hidden from view for review by staff (this is done by applying restricted user access to the quiz so that students can not access it (but they can see it))
  • when the quiz is in restricted access and a student has already completed the quiz that same student now sees the statement 'Not attempted'

The statement 'Not attempted' would of course not be correct and could end up causing unnecessary worry to the student - that they had not successfully completed the quiz.

Is this an expected behaviour or a bug?

Sorry, I don't follow what you are saying.

When you say "by applying restricted user access" what exactly did you do?

When you say "that same student now sees the statement 'Not attempted'" Where does the student see that?

Perhaps if you provided some screen-grabs, it would be easier for us to understand.

This seems to be a cutom development in the theme for us. It is not checking a particular condition that should give the proper number.
