Unable to configure moodle

After configuring, I get this error message: "Fatal error: $CFG->dataroot is not configured properly, directory does not exist or is not accessible! Exiting."

Please can you provide some details about your web server? What's the operating system (Linux? Microsoft Windows?) and the web server (Apache? IIS?).

Have you followed the documented steps for setting up the data directory?

Thanks for your support. I have already resolved the issue. I use IIS 7.5, PHP 5.3.28 and Moodle 2.6. The problem was with permission of data directory, it was write protected.

As requested below we need to know your server set up.  But, also the steps you have taken so far to install and what version of Moodle are you installing.
