Hi Michael,
double check the language settings and update the language pack on both sites (https://docs.moodle.org/33/en/Language_packs#Language_pack_updates): the formatting is defined via language pack (langconfig.php file) i.e. it could be overridden even locally customizing it (https://docs.moodle.org/33/en/Language_customisation).
