I'd been asked by teaching staff if it is possible to have a 'traffic light' scale that they can use to give students feedback on progress and quality of work, as an alternative to pinning things down to a specific numerical value (eg Red = Well below standard, Green = On track). It's easy to create a scale with the words Red, Amber, Green - and even use the same structure with a rubric, but it struck me that it would be nice to have an option to display this as an image - or even colour code a rubric so that column 1 displays a red background if selected, etc. I'm well aware of the issues around red-green colour blindness, but with appropriate accessible alternatives (including the actual words) this could nicely enhance grading and feedback in a visual way. I was wondering if anyone had developed something similar, or if there was any prospect of core code modifications to enable grade scale or rubric description fields to be editable to include an image or colour?
